3 Easy Ways to Show Your Employees You Care on Employee Appreciation Day
It’s Employee Appreciation Day!
It’s easy to get bogged down with work and forget to take a moment to show some appreciation for the people who show up, put in the work and make your organization great.
We know life and work has you busy, so here are 3 easy ways to show your employees you appreciate them for this year’s Employee Appreciation Day.
Bring in some (good) coffee.
Listen, we’re not talkin’ the old coffee pot or the overused Keurig that sits in the break room. Do a coffee shop run and bring in lattes, cold brew, smoothies, Americanos, the works! Everyone is sure to light up by the effort, AND be perked up on caffeine to have a productive day. Win-win!
Write thank you notes.
Take the time to write real thank you notes to your team. Remember these? The notes we used to write with a piece of paper and a pen? Empower managers at your organization to do the same for their team. These little hand-written notes can go a long way and make your team feel extra special that you took the time and made it personal.
Surprise them with an extra day off.
Allow us to set the scene…it’s an early morning meeting, all hands are on deck, it’s Friday, people are antsy to get on with their day and get to the weekend, and boom! You hit them with a surprise ending to the meeting that they will all get an extra vacation day for the year! What great news to receive during a Friday meeting.
BONUS: Create an Awards Ceremony.
This one is straight from our Employee Engagement Calendar. If you want to go big, why not hold an awards ceremony? We are talkin' an all-out awards ceremony for your team! This could be the event of the year!
Plan a gala-like event. No budget? No problem. Plan something at the office and get crafty.
Create categories for awards. Examples: Rookie of the year, Sales MVP, Most Enthusiastic, Best Zoom Host, Best Coffee Maker, Best Non-IT Support Person...we could go all day!
Have your team nominate each other for the categories. Select unbiased judges or have employees vote.
The night (or day) is now here! Encourage employees to dress up, serve delicious food and hand out the cheesiest trophies.
Showing appreciation is not hard, but it does take time out of our busy schedules. Nothing says “thank you” quite like taking the time to pause and recognize our team for the great work they do. And it’s a simple way to retain your top talent!
